Providence is calling a Surgical Services Tech (Surgical Services, Day-Shift, 0.8 FTE) to Providence Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville, Washington. In this position you will:
Supports the Performance Improvement process
Maintains a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors
Patient-Care Positions: Considers individual needs in communication with, assessment of, and treatment of patients and staff, including ethical, cultural, psychosocial, religious, and age-specific aspects to include infant through the elderly
Supports patient rights and the organization’s code of ethical behavior
Regular and predictable attendance is required for all positions. Failure to meet this standard can result in progressive discipline up to and including termination
Central Service:
Processes supplies by cleaning, packaging, sterilizing, distribution, storing and documenting in accordance to State, Federal, and Industry standards and established Providence Mount Carmel Hospital policies and procedures
Checks for outdated supplies.
Checks supplies, instruments, and equipment upon receiving from vendor or stores
Participates in the monitoring and record keeping of all sterilizers/disinfectors/washers in Surgical Services
Operates and maintains sterilizers by cleaning and conducting proper tests
Prepares and sterilizes items and materials
Delivers emergency and routine items to using areas, checking for correct patient charges
Collects used equipment and supplies from the appropriate areas
Decontaminates and prepares for reuse
Prepares instrument set and trays as instructed in Central Processing procedures
Inventories and stocks shelves
Checks for expiration dates and correct charge slips
Performs general cleaning of autoclaves, portable equipment, supply shelves, decontamination room, and other areas
Meets deadlines and work assignments as scheduled
Assists Surgical Services Supervisor in training new employees, work assignments, and other duties
Assists Surgical Services Supervisor with PI activities and reporting
OR:
Maintain aseptic technique; actively monitors situations which could lead to breaches in aseptic technique
Provide comfort and support for the pre-operative patients by demonstrating sensitivity to patient’s care and privacy
Transport patients to and from the OR/Endo areas and positions patient as required for the type of procedure being performed
Identify and cares for specimens
Prepare Operating Room for cases by setting up table, instruments, and supplies according to type of case
Participate in equipment and supply count confirmation with RN
Assist Physician as directed within scope of practice
Assist Circulating RN to Monitor and update PPL’s as needed
ENDO:
Provides comfort and support for the pre-procedure patient by demonstrating sensitivity to patient’s care and privacy
Prepares procedure room by setting up equipment and supplies as needed for procedure
Obtains, identifies and labels specimens’
Assist Physician as directed within scope of practice
Follows the principles and requirements outlined in the Commitments & Compliance Integrity Program Employee Handbook and any other organizational or departmental materials related to compliance with laws and regulatory requirements
Cleans and maintains scopes and equipment per manufacturers guidelines
Inventories, orders, and stocks shelves as required. Checks for expiration dates and correct charge slips
Qualifications:
Required qualifications for this position includes:
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician program
Competent in Adult, Child, and Infant CPR or obtains within 3 months of hire
Preferred qualifications for this position includes:
Coursework/Training recent completion of CST training program. Or equivalent educ/experience
Coursework/Training central Service training.
Central Service experience.
