Medical Technologist in Colville, Washington
This role will work an average of 36 hours per week, all overnight shifts.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Collect blood via arterial, venous, and capillary routes according to established procedures.
Receive various body fluids and material collected by the medical and nursing staffs, evaluates the condition of these specimens, and processes them according to established procedures.
Performs various analyses in hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood banking.
Organizes a variety of work to ensure rapid testing of high priority work and completion of all work within acceptable time frame.
Document patient’s results on appropriate log and/or report form.
Question unusual or “panic value” results and take appropriate action to confirm result.
Transmit results promptly to nursing personnel and/or medical staff.
Performs and documents requited quality control.
Take appropriate action when quality control results are outside acceptable limits.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or related field;
1 year of experience as a medical technologist or related occupation;
ASCP certification or equivalent; and
Current (or immediate eligibility) Washington State Healthcare Assistant Certificate.
