Providence Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) or Medical Lab Scientist (MT) - 1.0 FTE, Nights in Colville, Washington
Providence is calling a Medical Laboratory Technician or (MLT) or Medical Lab Scientist (MT) (Clinical Laboratory Services, Nights, 1.0 FTE, 40 hours per week) to Providence Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville, Washington. Work Schedule - This is a 4-10 hour shift, Monday through Thursday - Weekends off

In this position you will:
Perform and evaluate laboratory testing and analysis:
Plan assigned laboratory analysis with other lab personnel and establishes procedures and priorities to implement and maintain approved plans. Laboratory technicians are generally required to function in all areas of the laboratory.
Coordinate assigned testing activities with other laboratory personnel and is responsible for Quality Control, Quality Assurance, safety, infection control, inventory, and other activities associated with the laboratory.
Coordinate laboratory functions with other technicians and staff:
Help to coordinate day-to-day work of laboratory personnel such as phlebotomists and other technicians.
Coordinate and perform laboratory tests; interpret physician orders; obtains samples (including phlebotomy) and check sample integrity; monitors instrument performance; performs analysis; evaluate results and report results interpretations to clients.
Coordinate and perform data entry and related LIS operations which includes overseeing patient order/cancellation and troubleshooting LIS related functions.
Provide effective communication with other hospital personnel:
Provide liaison services between physicians, medical offices and laboratory personnel in other organizations, which involves responding to questions about test procedures and/or alternatives and reporting test results and exceptions.
Confer with nursing personnel, supervisors and other caregivers to exchange information regarding testing requirements and priorities, and responds to requests for assistance.
Perform Quality Control procedures and related tasks:
Participate in department Quality Assurance activities through participation in laboratory QA plan, to include: data collection, problem recognition, evaluation and recommendations to manager/supervisor, implementation of solutions.
Responsible for updating professional standards and practices with laboratory personnel, maintaining contacts with other laboratory facilities and participating in professional activities.
Monitor and control designated laboratory activities, which includes overseeing day-to-day concerns, responding to complaints and inquiries, and analyzing reports and related information.
Maintain competency by attending education experiences, and participating in hospital-mandated continuing education.
Demonstrate knowledge of age/sex dependence of testing results:
Assess data relative to age of patient.
Interpret data based on age-specific parameters.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Associate's Degree OR military MLT training program or equivalent
MLT ASCP Certification, or eligible for certification by ASCP or equivalent body
Must have a current Washington State Healthcare Assistant Certificate
Preferred qualification for this position include:
- Experience in medical laboratory in a medium to high complexity laboratory.
