Providence Engineering Technician in Colville, Washington
Providence is calling an Engineering Technician (Plant Operations, Variables, 0.0 FTE / on-call) to Providence Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville, Washington. This position is non-benefited with no guaranteed of hours but is on-call / supplemental to assist with filling PTO requests and ill coverages
In this position you will:
Supports the Performance Improvement process.
Follows and supports hospital policies. Follows the principles and requirements outlined in the Commitments and Compliance Integrity Program Employee Handbook and any other organizational or departmental materials related to compliance with laws and regulatory requirements.
Maintains a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
Non-Patient Care Positions: Considers individual needs in communication with patients and staff, including ethical, cultural, psychosocial, religious, and age-specific aspects.
Support patient rights and the organization’s code of ethical behavior.
Regular and predictable attendance is required for all positions. Failure to meet this standard can result in progressive discipline up to and including termination.
Checks all lighting in and around the hospital buildings on a regular basis and replaces bulbs as needed and/or makes necessary repairs to fixtures; repairs various types of electrical cords as needed; cleans fixtures on a regular basis.
Inspects, troubleshoots, and performs minor repairs and installation on electrical equipment and machinery and to buildings and facilities, including painting, plastering, carpentry, plumbing, or electrical power.
Orders needed materials, equipment, and supplies as required and regularly inventories to assure that adequate supplies are on hand.
Checks temperature and draft gauges on air handling systems and performs filter changes as needed.
Maintains log sheets and performs routine maintenance, lubrication, and cleaning of boilers, boiler room, and boiler room equipment on a regular basis.
Weekly operates emergency generator for test purposes and maintains its readiness.
Periodically inspects the equipment and the operation of the boiler room including safety shut down equipment to ensure safety regulations are met, efficient operations are maintained, and sufficient supplies are on hand.
Tests boiler water condition and adds chemical treatment to maintain proper limits and to prevent deposits.
Picks up litter from hospital grounds as needed.
Required qualifications for this position include:
Valid State of Washington Driver's License
Be able to read, write, and understand the English language
Ability to make simple arithmetic calculations equivalent to a high school education
Able to follow technical, oral, and written instruction
Able to read specifications, blueprints, and technical manuals for installation/repair of equipment
May be required to have an Engineer's license
Must exhibit general maintenance skills in such fields as electrical, electronics, plumbing, boilers, refrigeration, pumps, carpentry, etc.
